It is really tough sometimes being a parent with a television. You know your kids are going to spend a good portion of each day watching the TV and it is impossible for you to be there watching over their little shoulders the whole time. With cable TV you only get television ratings like TV-14 TV-M and so on and so forth. Although these ratings were created with the right idea in mind, they have proven to be counter productive to fixing the real problem. Studies have shown that with the new rating system, children are more apt to find programs with inappropriate content than they would have been otherwise. This is because with the ratings the kids can easily distinguish between what shows have content and what shows do not. This does not make the kids bad kids of course, it is in the nature of a child to be curious and anything new to them seems exhilarating and is very difficult for them to turn away from. Obviously the ratings were meant for the parents to be able to decide satellite videoconference programs will be right for their kids and not for the kids to have to judge for themselves. This of course is not how it works though. Most parents today are either single or live in a situation where both parents work. With the rising costs of living how can a parent stay home most of the time to keep an eye on what their kids are watching. Also, daycare costs have skyrocketed so, although most people do not like to admit it, the television has become the electronic nanny for the masses. Clearly, cable is a bad choice for parents that care what their kids watch�
